Blogged in Progress by D.Challener Roe Monday August 28, 2006
On August 28, 11:19 PM EDT the 2,996th name was assigned.
Howard (Barry) Kirschbaum, age 53, a resident of New York, N.Y., will be honored by El Rider at the blog Flying Debris.
There will be more to come. But every name will be honored. It took exactly 90 days, and more hours than I’d care to count–and not just from me.
But for tonight I’ll take this victory and sleep well.
We're there! Well done, all of you bloggers! Thanks, Anna, for the update!
Hey! We have 2,996 bloggers to give tribute to the victims of 9/11. Now we'll see how well we all can do. Write on, Fellow Bloggers!

Excellent job with this post Benning. It's beautiful.
I signed up as well.
I'm already on line, so I suppose I should pass it along to my readers as well, even though I do have the link on my side bar.
Glad to see that you've joined and posted on this.
I'm in for two names, one for each of my primary blogs.
Wonderful post, Benning. :)
It just warms my heart when I hear that someone else has signed up to help remember those that lost their lives. 9/11 is a day I will NEVER forget.
Got it together and posted about it at my place. Hope I can bring in a few more people! It will be a wonderful tribute and I sure hope we can get every person honored!
Won't it be great if this gets to beyond the 2,996?
Be nice if we can get twice the number of bloggers involved.
:D
I'm doing one as well...great post.
Nothing to do with the post...only that this was your latest. Just letting you know Ebyjo & I plan on firing a blog back up soon...take care.
Thanks, Gunz! A lot of folks were wondering!
I signed up, too. Thanks AOW and Benning for spreading the word!
Thanks for visiting my site and commenting. ALSO (this is a big also), thanks for this post - I have signed up for a tribute.
... the best also! :D
Hmmm...it's a thought.
So I'll think about it...
I am really sorry that I didn't blog anything to mark the atrocities in India.
It just shows that we're all in this together, East, West non-aligned.
mike: We blog so much on violence, atrocities, bloodshed, that it gets to be hum-drum. As if it's a normal day in the life. And it shouldn't be. But what can you say about it that hasn't already been said? I simply used the posting at 2,996 to update that post. So, I cheated. Then I moved on to more enjoyable pursuits!
Thanks for the visit!
Thanks for doing this, Benning. I signed up a while back. It's a great idea!
Gayle, I have my page sorta all ready to go. I'll tinker some more with it, and keep looking for more information. It feels good to be able to "play" with a site for a purpose greater than my own amusement.
D.C.Roe has created a great movement!
OK, I'm signed up now...I was number 1,365; not quite halfway there yet.
Way to go, camo! We just may make it!
2:00pm ET, Saturday, August 26, 2006 only 154 left!! YEAH!
Did you check out the blog featured at 2,996? It's called "The Super Adventures of Ben and Noah"? Go check it out!
Great update, Anna! Yay!
On my way!
79 left as of Sunday 6:30pm 8/27!!
They did it!! Go to the site...the last name was given at just after 11pm 8/28!! YEAH!
They did it! WE did it! Fantastic news!
benning, I thank you for commenting on my blog for the first time on a post in which I was paying tribute to Alida, a Lady.
I also thank you for the opportunity to do so again. Paying tribute to the victims of 9/11 is certainly something I would like to be a part of, and I count myself fortunate that you came to my blog.
As fate would have it, the person I was randomly assigned was another Lady.
That's fantastic.
I grew up watching the Twin Towers being built from where I lived at Fort Wadsworth Staten Island. I still catch myself looking to where they once stood.
